About The Open Hearth
Helping men help themselves
We help men experiencing homelessness enhance their capacity for self-help, self-respect, and dignity, and achieve their full potential as responsible citizens of Greater Hartford and Connecticut.
About our Services
Counseling and mentoring
With case managers, men develop an action plan to address the issues that led them to homelessness.
Many men who live at The Hearth are in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. We offer daily on-site recovery groups and individual addiction counselling.
Men have access to on-site physical and behavioral health care, and referrals for medical treatment with outside partners.
We work with men to help repair relationships with family and friends that have been damaged by homelessness and addiction.
Men have the opportunity to pursue education, from Adult Basic Education and GED to college courses, to training related to job skills.
Men participate in on-site work programs that prepare them to reenter the workforce and achieve their long-term goals.
Jobs help men who live at The Hearth return to the community as quickly as possible. We provide skills training and job coaching and placement with local employers.
