In partnership with St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church in downtown Hartford, The Open Hearth offers permanent housing and ongoing support for men at the church’s housing facility – Catherine’s Place. We opened in 2020, during the pandemic, with an official ribbon cutting in July 2021.
The church’s existing housing facility (already named Catherine’s Place) had been used in a variety of ways over the years. Our partnership is called The Open Hearth at Catherine’s Place. We are excited not only for the men who have transitioned there (but will keep a formal – close connection to our facility) but for the possibility of building a deeper involvement with the church and their work around homelessness, social justice, etc.
As the lead priest of the church, Father Tom was quoted as saying about our men “They bring their experiences of healing and life to our door and may well assist some of those who come to us day after day – which is just a beautiful thing.”
